Description
The
days spent angling for trout in Montana linger in the
memory long after the rods and reels are put away.
Is it the spectacular scenery that makes these times
so special? The clean air and clean water? The color
of the water, rocks, trees and sky? The sense of space
and freedom? Or is it the trout: beautiful, strong, fast,
and wild, sometimes large, sometimes small, always a
mystery to be solved?
In this book, it is all of the above, and more.
Montana is blessed with trout water to die for -- the Yellowstone, Madison, Big
Hole, the Blackfoot, and dozens more rivers, hundreds more streams, thousands
more creeks, and countless lakes large and small, high and low. These places
and the fishermen who ply their waters are portrayed here in stunning images
by Montana's finest photographers. Along the way there are quotations from fishermen
and fishing writers that describe - with humor, wit, and insight -- the fascination
and fun of fishing for trout in Montana.
There has never been a book like this. We hope you enjoy it.

Beautiful book depicts Montana trout fishing
Montanans showcased in trout fishing book
HELENA—A beautiful new book about Montana trout fishing showcases several Montana writers and photographers. “Unforgettable Days: Montana Trout Fishing” (Riverbend Publishing, Helena) features nationally known outdoor photographers Dale C. Spartas and Denver Bryan, both from Bozeman, along with up-and-coming talents such as Dusan Smetana of Bozeman and Scott Wheeler of Butte. Montana writers in the book include Greg Keeler, Scott Waldie, Datus Proper, and Sam Curtis, among others.
The book’s 65 stunning color photographs present trout fishing across the state, from the famous Madison, Big Hole and Yellowstone rivers to the Blackfoot, Flathead, and Kootenai rivers and many other, lesser known locations. Together the writing and photography create a memorable portrait of many aspects of Montana trout fishing, including float fishing and wading, the annual salmonfly and caddis hatches, and the quiet enjoyment of fishing amid Montana’s spectacular scenery even when the fish aren’t biting. With its innovative presentation of a fabled subject, “Unforgettable Days” is destined to find a place in many fishermen’s libraries and Montana homes.
The hardcover book is small, only eight by seven inches and more like an “end-table book” than a coffee-table book, but it features high quality design and color printing. The publisher kept the price small too, only $14.95, an exceptional bargain for a book that has the look and feel of a more expensive gift book.
