About the Author
Betty was born the youngest of ten children in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She knew from a young age that she wanted to travel and see the world. After graduating from Shippensburg University, she got a job as a flight attendant for a major airline and has now been flying for over 20 years. Betty currently lives in Los Angeles, California and is still flying– so you might see her on your next flight!
In September 2006 she started her own podcast called “Betty in the Sky with a Suitcase”. Composed of airline and travels stories, the podcast is reminiscent of an old fashioned radio show, giving listeners an insider’s view of life in the air.

Betty finds laughs up in the air
“Betty in the Sky with a Suitcase” is a wildly popular podcast about airline travel by Betty, a veteran flight attendant. Now, by popular demand, here is the best of Betty in a book, in what may be the first ever instance of a podcast being turned into a book, making it a “pook”.
“Betty,” who uses a pseudonym because she’s still flying for a major American airline, shares funny stories she has collected over the years from pilots, flight controllers, ground crew, passengers, and fellow flight attendants. The stories include pranks, practical jokes, cockpit humor, and, of course, dealing with all kinds of wacky passengers. Betty’s anecdotes are brief, punchy, and funny, making this the perfect book for airport layovers and long flights—and for ignoring obnoxious seatmates.
Betty’s podcast is listened to by half a million Betty fans around the world. Indietravel.com says, “Betty in the Sky with a Suitcase is our favorite travel podcast…she has all the inside gossip and weird and wonderful stories from the hangers and flight decks. [Her stories] give plenty of reason to snort out loud, to the consternation of fellow passengers.” BudgetTravel.com says, “She’s funny!” and even MyGeekWorld.com says, “This is one funky chick!”
Betty has been interviewed in major media around the world, including National Public Radio, the British Broadcasting Corporation, and “Travel and Leisure” magazine.
